Singapore 2010 YOG Million Deeds Challenge
+what is the Million Deeds Challenge(MDC)?
The MDC is about doing everyday things with a great spirit. Its about making a difference to someone, your community, and the world we live in.
By living the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect, we can be part of the Youth Olympic movement that celebrates the spirit of Olympism. The MDC is an invitation to all of us.
+what is a deed of Excellence, Friendship and Respect?
Here are some examples;
- A deed of Excellence ; staying back after school to improve on a piece of artwork.
- A deed of Friendship ; smiling and thanking the canteen staff for the food served
- A deed of Respect ; giving up your seat on the bus/train to an elderly/pregnant person.
How big or small the deed was, is irrelevant. It is the act of the deed that matters
+ How do I participate?
To be part of the MDC, do a deed of Excellence, Friendship and Respect and log on to the MDC microsite at www.milliondeeds.sg
The MDC microsite is designed to resemble a virtual Torch Relay. After you submit your deed, you will see yourself running a leg in the virtual Torch Relay thus bringing the virtual Youth Olympic flame one step closer from Greece to Singapore.
The virtual torch will be passed to the next person who submits his/her deeds. Once the torch is passed, you can submit another deed and continue again as a virtual torch-bearer.
The virtual Torch Relay will pass through all National Olympic Committees(including Singapore), to symbolise the we are all connected through the Youth Olympic movement and are a part of the Singapore 2010 YOG.
